ABOUT US

Walk With Us Kokoda is more than just a trek; it's an experience that changes lives. We are a proud initiative of Raising the Bar Foundation, committed to providing meaningful, life-changing experiences for both civilians and veterans.

Our dedicated team of guides includes Australian Army veterans who bring personal insights and experiences to every trek, offering a unique and profound understanding of the history that defines the Kokoda Track.

About Raising The Bar Foundation

Our mission is to lead the charge in changing the stigma around mental health and fostering resilience within individuals and communities.

Through a comprehensive approach that emphasises education, support, and the cultivation of inclusive environments, we are committed to reducing rates of suicide and poor mental health.

Our vision extends beyond industry boundaries, focusing on creating strong, interconnected communities that prioritise mental well-being and proactively prevent suicide in both specific sectors and the broader community.

Our partners

We are grateful for the support of our partners and sponsors who make Walk With Us Kokoda possible. From individuals to organisations, your contributions allow us to offer this life-changing experience to more people.

WHAT WE’RE DOING

We aim to connect people with history, challenge them physically, and provide an environment of reflection and growth.

Whether civilian or veteran, we believe every participant can find meaning and purpose through this journey.

Why we’re doing it

We’re here to guide people through the Kokoda Track because we believe it’s more than just a trek—it’s a journey that challenges your body, strengthens your mind, and connects you to a critical piece of Australian history.

For veterans, it’s a chance to reflect on their own service, find healing, and reconnect with the spirit of mateship. For civilians, it’s an opportunity to step outside of everyday life and push themselves to new limits while walking in the footsteps of heroes.

This experience isn’t just about reaching the finish line. It’s about understanding the sacrifices made by those who came before us, embracing the struggle, and finding strength in shared stories.

We’re doing this because the lessons of Kokoda—resilience, teamwork, accountability—are timeless, and they matter today just as much as they did in 1942.

oUR TEAM

Our team, including Australian Army veterans, brings deep insights and personal experience to ensure every step of the journey is meaningful.

Whether you’re searching for a challenge, reflection, or a deeper connection to the Kokoda legacy, we're here to lead you through this life-changing adventure.

F.A.Q.

  • The trek is open to both civilians and veterans. Whether you’re looking for a personal challenge, a historical experience, or a way to reflect on your service, this trek is for you.

  • The trek takes 10 days, with an additional day for departure. Each day includes significant historical sites, physical challenges, and moments of reflection.

  • You need a solid level of fitness. The Kokoda Trail is physically demanding, with steep inclines, river crossings, and challenging terrain. Training in endurance, strength, and hiking is recommended.

  • Porters are available to carry your main pack for an additional cost. This means you’ll only need to carry a small daypack with essentials like water, snacks, and rain gear.

  • The package includes:

    • Accommodation in Port Moresby before and after the trek

    • Charter flights from Kokoda back to Port Moresby

    • Guided trek with experienced Australian Defence veterans

    • All meals on the trail

    • Historical site visits and briefings

  • Yes! We provide resources and support for fundraising. Many participants use this option to raise additional funds for the charity and support Veterans on their treks.

  • We visit villages along the trail, meet locals, and learn about their culture. This includes meeting descendants of the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels, who played a crucial role in supporting Australian troops. Additionally, our guides and porters are often from these communities, and your trek directly supports their economy.

  • You’ll need to book your flight to Port Moresby (Jacksons International Airport). We arrange your flight from Kokoda back to Port Moresby at the end of the trek.
